RRL Low Straight One-Wash Selvedge Denim: First Wash Review, Measurements & Fit Restoration Data

Hello, this is Lislab . For any denim enthusiast, there is always a quiet thrill in breaking in and caring for a favorite pair of jeans. Today, I’d like to share the first wash process, before-and-after measurement data, and subsequent wear updates for my RRL Low Straight One-Wash Selvedge Denim —a pair I’ve been documenting right here on my blog. Generally, one-wash, sanforized denim carries little stress when it comes to washing. However, as wears accumulate, proper timing becomes essential to reset the fabric’s tension and restore the silhouette from inevitable wear-stretching. Rather than aiming for drastic shrinkage or rapid fading, this first wash was focused entirely on tidying up the stretched waist, knees, and rear seat area. While some time has passed since the actual washing took place, I’ve included both the immediate post-wash data and the real-world evolution observed after putting another 40+ wears on them since.

Hello, this is Lislab.

Today, I’m introducing Warehouse & Co., a pillar of Japan’s iconic Osaka Five and a brand revered by archive enthusiasts worldwide for its unyielding commitment to authentic vintage reproduction.

When you visit the official Warehouse website, one thing immediately stands out: rather than flashy campaign lookbooks or stylized professional model shoots, the brand relies on unfiltered daily photos of its own staff and raw, personal blog archives.

Instead of commercial polish, this reflects a quiet confidence and honest dedication—presenting the actual fit, fabric textures, and natural aging process of their garments exactly as they evolve over time.

Today, let’s take a closer look at Warehouse & Co.’s brand story, core product lineup, and my top recommended entry pieces for anyone looking to experience vintage denim in its purest form.

01. The Birth of the Brand

Founded in Osaka in 1995, Warehouse & Co. was established by twin brothers Kenichi Shiotani and Koji Shiotani, both of whom honed their craftsmanship and denim-making expertise at Evisu before launching their own label.

As the name "Warehouse" suggests, the brothers set out not merely to copy vintage clothing aesthetics, but to completely reconstruct garments as if they had just been uncovered from a 1920s–1960s American industrial warehouse.

  • Obsessive Vintage Reconstruction
    • From individual yarn spinning and fabric weaving to specialized sewing techniques and wash processing, Warehouse meticulously researches every structural element of vintage garments.

  • Raw, Unfiltered Archive Documentation
    • Store staff document their daily wear over months and years, sharing real fading patterns and fabric creases across official blogs and stores. This transparent visual log has become Warehouse's defining trademark.

02. Iconic Signature Items

Beyond selvedge denim, Warehouse offers a comprehensive lineup capturing the true spirit of mid-century American workwear and sportswear.

  • Denim Lineup (Raw, One-Wash, Washed Jeans & Jackets)

From raw and one-wash jeans crafted after thorough period-specific Levi's research to the iconic 2nd-Hand series—designed around the concept of "the best vintage pair found in a thrift shop"—Warehouse uses proprietary laser and washing technologies to recreate realistic aged tones and authentic fabric shrinkage.

Their denim trucker jackets span Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 silhouettes, as well as rare 1920s denim blouse patterns.

  • Tops (Sweatshirts & Work Shirts)

Sweatshirts: Knitted slowly on vintage loopwheel machines, these tubular-body (seamless side) sweatshirts provide a soft, relaxed fit without structural pressure.

Work Shirts: Based on 1930s–1950s American workwear, their chambray and heavy flannel (Nel) shirts feature custom-woven textured fabrics and durable triple-needle stitching.

  • T-Shirt Series

Famous for their uneven yarn texture (slub) and classic graphic prints, these tees are constructed using traditional binding collar techniques that resist stretching, allowing the fabric's vintage texture to become richer with every wash.

Here are my top recommendations for anyone discovering Warehouse for the first time or looking for versatile daily pieces.

  • 1101 & 1105 2nd-Hand Washed Denim Jeans

The 1101 model offers a refined classic regular straight fit adapted for modern wear, while the 1105 features a subtle taper with a slightly higher rise. Both models deliver authentic vintage indigo shades and pre-set honeycombs without requiring years of break-in time.

As someone who owns both the 1101 and 1105, I find it hard to name a more satisfying pair of vintage-style light-wash denim on the market.

  • T-Shirt Series

An accessible entry point into Warehouse’s signature fabric quality. The lightweight, slubby texture drapes naturally on the body, making these tees look exceptional on their own or styled as an inner layer under jackets and work shirts.

04. Buying Information & Tips

  • Official Retailers

    • Visiting authorized dealers allows you to feel the fabric textures in person and find the ideal fit for your build.

  • Official Online store

    • You can explore seasonal drops and core collections directly through Warehouse's official online channels.

  • Shopping in Japan

    • If you are traveling to Japan, visiting flagship stores in Tokyo, Osaka, or Fukuoka is highly recommended. You can access store-exclusive models, tax-free shopping benefits, and specialized chain-stitch hemming services on-site.

Closing: Vintage Reproduction Without Compromise

Rather than altering silhouettes to follow modern micro-trends or wrapping the brand in artificial marketing, Warehouse & Co. pours all its energy into faithfully restoring the timeless appeal of vintage clothing.

Much like the staff wear logs continuously updated on their site, Warehouse garments reveal their true value through daily living and natural wear.

That wraps up today’s brand guide. I’ll be back soon with more insightful fashion stories.

Thank you for reading this long journey.

Sincerely, Lislab
