If I had to choose a brand that most perfectly recreates the atmosphere of the 1960s—the golden era of the Levi’s 501—I wouldn't hesitate to choose Warehouse & Co.

There is a unique pleasure in aging raw denim from scratch, but sometimes, we all have moments when we want to instantly enjoy the "finished beauty" of a pair that looks like it has been cherished for decades.

Today, I’m starting a review of the Warehouse 1101 2nd-Hand 'Light Used Wash', a pair that feels as familiar as a long-time partner from the very first wear, showcasing the essence of light-wash denim that resembles a clear sky.

01. On-Body Fit & Silhouette



I first experienced the Warehouse 1105 and later added the 1101 as my second pair. To find the "perfect light wash," I first experienced the 1105 'Medium Wash' through my wife (then girlfriend) who picked it up for me during her trip to Osaka.

The exceptional texture and quality I felt from the 1105 eventually led to a thirst for the 1101 'Light Wash.' Finally, after we got married, I brought home the 1101 during a trip to Tokyo with her.

The Warehouse 1101, the "perfect light wash" I had been searching for, proved its reputation as the king of vintage reproduction. Its 12oz lightweight fabric provides a softness that makes it hard to believe it was achieved through a laser-washing process.





The 1101 is a regular straight fit inspired by the 1960s Levi’s 501. The silhouette, which falls loosely from the thigh to the hem, adds a sense of volume to my slim frame, completing a more three-dimensional and classic silhouette.

The reasonably deep rise and relaxed fit provide excellent mobility. It’s remarkably comfortable even during long hours of wear and stays breathable even in summer—a unique strength of this model.



02. Length Tips & Styling Points



The greatest blessing of the Warehouse 2nd-Hand line is its "Length Design." Unlike many denim brands designed for Western body types, Warehouse specifically tailors the length for Asian proportions. In my case, I was able to achieve a perfect silhouette without any additional hemming.

The length falls right at the heel, barely touching the top of my foot. I’m currently enjoying this "crop-straight" feel without the stress of alterations.

* Length Tip: For those who are taller or have longer legs, Warehouse has recently released "Long Length" versions for the 2nd-Hand line. Be sure to check the specific measurements before purchasing.



Due to the bright color and lightweight fabric, it pairs exceptionally well with sneakers or loafers. Additionally, the 1101 has a slightly wider hem than the 1105, showing a great balance with bulky sneakers or rugged boots.

A simple cuff to reveal the signature "Yellow Selvedge Line" is enough to maximize the refreshing mood of light-wash denim. The fact that you can enjoy a complete silhouette the moment you "unbox" it proves how perfect this pair is as a modern daily wear beyond just being a reproduction.





03. A Continuum of Records





I believe the true value of the Warehouse 1101 lies in the "recreation of past time." The naturally faded paper patch, the worn-out red tab on the back pocket, and the impeccable wash feel so authentic that it’s hard to believe it’s an artificial process. It creates a deep bond as if the jeans have spent years of life with me.





This wash, meticulously implemented by artisans based on 1960s archival research, lacks the "artificial" discomfort often felt in mass-produced washed denim.

The pale indigo color and the oxidized copper rivets are impressive "records" that reward the effort I would have spent aging them myself. I believe the process of adding my own current time and memories on top of this magnificent record is another joyful journey in itself.

It takes years, or even more, for raw denim to be washed and worn into a beautiful light-blue state.
