Hello, this is Lislab . In Napoli, a passionate football city in southern Italy, there has long been one monumental name echoing as a legend: the iconic Diego Maradona. Ever since his era, Napoli had gone 33 long years without claiming the Italian league title (Scudetto), facing heartbreak time and time again. Then came South Korean defender Kim Min-jae. After playing in South Korea, China, and Turkey, he made his debut in Italy’s Serie A, completely dominating Napoli’s defense during the 22/23 season. Dubbed the "Korean Monster," he sparked an unforgettable turnaround. Dominating opposition attackers with his overwhelming physicality, impressive speed, and rock-solid defensive skills, Kim earned the Serie A Best Defender award and conquered the league. He anchored the squad to a miraculous season, ending a 33-year title drought. Today, I’m excited to introduce the shirt that shared every moment of that glorious journey: the SSC Napoli 22/23 Home Kit with Kim Min-jae No. 3...

[Guide] The Art of Raw Denim: Why We Chase the Perfect Patina

Hello, this is Lislab.

Everyone likely has at least one pair of jeans in their closet. Denim is a timeless staple—versatile, easy to maintain, and loved across all generations. From budget-friendly brands to high-end luxury labels, the endless lineup of denim speaks for itself.

But for those who truly love the fabric, denim is categorized into two worlds: 'Raw Denim' and 'Washed Denim.'
  • Dark Indigo: Deep, nearly black tones.

  • Mid-Wash: The iconic, refreshing blue.

  • Light-Wash: A clear, sky-blue hue.

"Every pair of jeans starts its life as dark indigo 'Raw Denim."

The mid-wash and light-wash jeans you see in stores are simply the results of industrial processing designed to artificially remove the indigo dye.

Raw denim is exactly what it sounds like—'raw' and untreated. Because of this, it can bleed indigo onto your white t-shirts or light-colored sneakers. However, this "bleeding" is proof that the denim is alive, and it's the first step in the journey of breaking them in.

01. A Brief History of Denim

"From Miner's Workwear to Fashion Icon"

In the mid-19th century, jeans were born as rugged workwear for miners and laborers in America. They needed something tough enough to survive harsh environments, and back then, all jeans were 'Raw Denim.'

As workers toiled and sweated, the fabric creased according to their body shape and movements. The indigo began to fade in high-friction areas, creating what we now call 'Fading.' People eventually fell in love with the beauty of these naturally worn-in blues, which led to the creation of the 'Washed Denim' we know today.

Modern brands now sell pre-distressed jeans to mimic this look, but the artificial fades created by machines can never replicate the natural authenticity etched by a human body.

02. Your Personal Archive

"A Record Etched by Your Body, Not a Machine"

To be honest, your first encounter with raw denim might not be pleasant. Made of 100% heavy-duty cotton and saturated with dye, it feels stiff—almost like wearing a suit of armor. At first glance, the dark, monochromatic tone might even seem boring.

But if you embrace the discomfort and share your daily life with them, a beautiful transformation occurs:
  • Whiskers: Fades that fan out from the crotch/hip area.

  • Honeycombs: The distinct honeycomb-like patterns behind the knees.

  • Personal Archive: The fabric stretches and fades based on your gait and habits.

Over time, that stiff fabric becomes your 'Second Skin.' At this moment, the jeans are no longer a mass-produced item—they are reborn as a one-of-a-kind record of your life. Every wallet mark in the back pocket and every crease from sitting down is a story only you can tell.

Closing: The Journey of Aging with Your Denim

There are countless "pretty" jeans in the world, but 'Your Own Jeans' cannot exist until you create them yourself. This is why enthusiasts chase 'Heritage' and 'Aging' (Patina)—the joy of seeing value increase over time.

While buying a pre-washed pair is convenient, why not try breaking in a pair of raw denim yourself? In 1, 5, or 10 years, those jeans will hold your memories and reflect the time you've spent in them.

I will reveal my personal Denim Archive—pairs I've been breaking in for years:
  • The Classics (Reproduction): LVC, Full Count, Warehouse

  • The Texture (Slubby): Pure Blue Japan (PBJ), Momotaro, Japan Blue Jeans

  • Modern & Experimental: A.P.C., Naked & Famous, Dickies

I look forward to introducing each piece that is aging alongside me in my closet.

Sincerely, Lislab
