Hello, this is Lislab.
A.P.C. is always at the center of the conversation when it comes to the best entry-level raw denim. Even among countless reproduction brands, its unique cool sheen and clean silhouette keep A.P.C. in a league of its own.
I remember being captivated by the silhouette and the iconic red selvedge line of A.P.C. back when it first led the raw denim trend. At that time, I preferred a relaxed fit and chose Naked & Famous instead. However, as I begin this new journey with Lislab, I’ve finally brought home the Petit New Standard to fully experience the brand I've always had my eye on.

"The Pinnacle of Modern Sophistication"
- Fit: Slim Tapered - Low rise with a slim, tapered leg.
- Condition: 3 weeks of wear (approx. 12 times) / No Wash.
- Features: A modern, refined aesthetic that differs from traditional vintage reproductions.
- 14.5oz Sanforized (pre-shrunk treatment completed).
- Features a clean, refined 'Gassing' process that singes of surface fuzz for a smooth texture.
- Heavily starched, providing a paper-like crispness and extreme rigidity.
The A.P.C. Petit New Standard is impeccably clean. The indigo hue is deep and luxurious, while the crisp Red Selvedge ID and Orange Stitching provide subtle, elegant accents. Its minimalism—even omitting the iconic leather patch—completes the sophisticated A.P.C. look.
The signature silver buttons and rivets exude a quiet premium feel, and the cleanly finished inner pockets prove that "less is truly more."
02. Sizing
"The Memory of the First Day (Buttons Near Bursting)"
<A.P.C. Petit New Standard Size & Measurement Chart>
* This data is a recompiled average by Lislab, based on A.P.C. official guides and measurement data from global premium denim retailers. Please note that raw denim may have slight individual variations; use these figures as a reference point for your size selection.
The most common advice you'll find for A.P.C. is to "size down." This is due to the unique nature of the fabric.
A.P.C. denim is Sanforized, so you don't have to worry about extreme shrinkage (turning into "children's clothes") after a wash. However, the dramatic "stretch" that happens as it molds to your body is the true signature of this brand.
Trusting my own data, I chose my True Size (30). The first wear felt like 100% cotton skinny jeans with zero stretch. The buttons barely closed, but it wasn't unwearable. While the new product is tagged at a 39.5cm waist(flat), it felt like a tight 39~39.5cm in real-time pressure.

03. The 3-Week Change
"Aging Proven by Data"
Here is the change in actual measurements after 12 wears over 3 weeks:
- Waist: 39.5cm > 40.5cm (1cm increase)
- Front Rise: 23.5cm > 25.5cm (2cm increase)
The waist stretch is remarkably visible. Compared to most denim that stretches only 0.5–1cm slowly, A.P.C.’s 1-2cm stretch is truly exceptional. This data is exactly why people recommend going true to size or sizing down.
While it doesn't feel like a stiff "armor" like LVC Rigid, the unique crispness of A.P.C. wraps around the legs perfectly. The fabric has now begun to "remember" my hip line and movements, making the fit much more flexible and comfortable than on Day 1.
Since I spend most of my work hours sitting, the Whiskers at the crotch and Honeycombs behind the knees have set in sharply, with the indigo beginning to rub off into a vibrant blue. I am already excited to see the high-contrast fades after the first wash.
Closing: Pain is Temporary, Fit is Forever
The A.P.C. Petit New Standard is the ultimate choice for those with a slender build seeking a sophisticated fit. The initial stiffness and tightness are simply part of the process.
The low rise allows it to sit perfectly on the hips, creating a silhouette that makes the legs look longer and keeps the seat looking sharp.
After three weeks, these jeans have molded to my body and are becoming my favorite "daily driver." I highly recommend them to anyone starting their denim journey.
Thank you for reading this long journey.
Sincerely, Lislab
