Hello, this is Lislab.
Today, I’m starting a 'Style Log,' which has a slightly different vibe from my usual data-heavy daily logs. Alongside my analytical reviews filled with numbers, I want to record and share how A.P.C. naturally integrates into my daily life and the silhouette it creates.
For Lislab’s first Style Log, I'll be sharing my on-body experience with the gateway to raw denim: the A.P.C. Petit New Standard.

01. On-Body Fit & Silhouette
Since getting these in early March, I’ve worn them consistently—over 20 times in just one month. The initial stiff, armor-like feel has started to break in, and natural creases are beginning to settle along my hips and leg lines.
The sharp, slim-tapered fit is what makes the Petit New Standard a masterpiece. For someone with a slim build like me, this silhouette provides a much better overall balance than a wider fit by firmly holding the frame.
02. Styling Points
New A.P.C. raw denim comes with a very long inseam. While a clean roll-up showing the red selvedge ID is the standard styling, I currently prefer the natural 'Stacks' silhouette (letting the fabric bunch up at the hem). I want to avoid permanent cuff marks before the first soak. I'm looking forward to the perfect cuff line that will sit once the fabric becomes more supple after shrinking.
Since the Petit New Standard has a very narrow leg opening that tapers down slimly below the thigh, I recommend pairing them with lightweight sneakers like Converse or Vans rather than heavy boots.- If you choose to cuff, always unroll them when storing your jeans at home to prevent fabric damage.
- If you're considering hemming (shortening), I strongly recommend doing so after the first wash/soak to account for shrinkage.
03. A Continuum of Records
To deeply engrave my daily life and records into these jeans, I am wearing them relentlessly before the first wash. While the sharp whiskers and honeycombs formed while writing for Lislab at my desk are great, the "random" creases made while running around with my family or playing at a kids' cafe on my days off are even more precious to me.
Years from now, looking at the fades on these jeans will allow me to reminisce: "I had such a great time with my child back then." This becomes a personal and warm chronicle of my life. This is the real reason why I wear denim.
Closing: What kind of jeans did you record your day with?
To some, they are just a pair of stiff blue pants. To me, denim is a record of my time and memories. Every moment of walking, sitting, and moving is etched into these jeans as aging data.
The A.P.C. Petit New Standard provides an effortless skinny-to-slim look. The rapid taper below the knee is the true identity of this model.
While relaxed fits have their charm, I encourage those with a slim build to enjoy the dynamic and sharp fading that a slim-fit denim offers. Lislab’s Style Log will continue to capture more than just an outfit—it will capture the journey of aging alongside denim.
Thank you for reading this long journey.
Sincerely, Lislab
