[Review] SSC Napoli 22/23 Season Home Kim Min-jae Jersey: The Iconic No. 3 Blue Shirt That Won the Scudetto After 33 Years

Hello, this is Lislab . In Napoli, a passionate football city in southern Italy, there has long been one monumental name echoing as a legend: the iconic Diego Maradona. Ever since his era, Napoli had gone 33 long years without claiming the Italian league title (Scudetto), facing heartbreak time and time again. Then came South Korean defender Kim Min-jae. After playing in South Korea, China, and Turkey, he made his debut in Italy’s Serie A, completely dominating Napoli’s defense during the 22/23 season. Dubbed the "Korean Monster," he sparked an unforgettable turnaround. Dominating opposition attackers with his overwhelming physicality, impressive speed, and rock-solid defensive skills, Kim earned the Serie A Best Defender award and conquered the league. He anchored the squad to a miraculous season, ending a 33-year title drought. Today, I’m excited to introduce the shirt that shared every moment of that glorious journey: the SSC Napoli 22/23 Home Kit with Kim Min-jae No. 3...

Hello, this is Lislab.

In the sneaker world, the definition of a "classic" is fairly clear. Signature models like the Nike Air Force 1, Adidas Superstar, Vans Authentic, and Converse Chuck Taylor have served as closet staples for decades.

However, one brand transformed this standardized originality into an entirely new genre by infusing playful whimsy and a deconstructivist lens: Maison Mihara Yasuhiro. While Mihara Yasuhiro initially started by paying homage to classic lifestyle silhouettes, it has evolved far beyond mere imitation, establishing an iconic aesthetic and presence under its own name.

Today, I’m excited to walk you through the Maison Mihara Yasuhiro Blakey Canvas Low in the iconic White/Cream colorway, known for its signature clay-molded melting sole.

Originally trained as a traditional shoemaker, Mihara Yasuhiro shocked the sneaker scene by applying deconstructivism to shatter traditional footwear molds.

While many brands rely on digital 3D rendering for precision, Yasuhiro insists on traditional analog techniques—hand-molding clay to create prototype soles. Looking closely at the midsole, you’ll notice an uneven, organic texture that resembles melting wax or soft clay, which serves as the undeniable signature of Mihara Yasuhiro footwear.

The Blakey silhouette feels familiar because it is built upon the foundation of the Adidas Superstar. In particular, the shell-toe detail mimics the classic Superstar motif, but it is rendered far chunkier, looking almost like a playful clay sculpture crafted by hand.

The upper is crafted from thick, durable canvas. As time passes, natural scuffs and wear-creases add character, maximizing its vintage appeal. The crisp white canvas contrasts beautifully with the bold, chunky laces, creating a distinct presence that is instantly recognizable even from a distance.

02. Sizing & Comfort

"Substantial Volume with Surprising Stability"

<Mihara Yasuhiro Blakey Size Chart>

* This data is a reconfigured by Lislab based on average values from Yasuhiro's official guide and retailer measurements. Please use it as a reference only.

Although Mihara Yasuhiro uses standard European sizing, the inner last runs slightly snugger compared to typical European designer brands. Because the thick outsole gives the shoe a bit of weight, sizing up too much may result in heel slippage while walking.

With flat and slightly wide feet, I normally wear EU 40 in standard European shoes. I went True to Size (EU 40) for the Blakey, and the structured canvas upper provides a perfectly comfortable, snug fit.

For those with wide feet or flat feet, going True to Size is highly recommended. If you prefer a roomier feel or plan to lace up tightly for a oversized look, go up by just one size at most.

While the chunky outsole might look heavy and rigid at first glance, the actual comfort on foot is surprisingly soft. The thick midsole delivers a subtle height boost while the cushioned footbed effectively absorbs impact during daily walks.

03. On-Feet

"The Perfect Match for Wide Pants"

While white low-tops are an absolute wardrobe essential, the Blakey’s chunky silhouette instantly elevates any outfit into high-street territory. The subtle contrast between the white canvas upper and the off-white/cream shell-toe adds a balanced focal point to your outfit.

Due to the shoe's substantial volume, it pairs exceptionally well with wide-leg trousers, relaxed denim, or cargo pants rather than slim cuts. The hem of wide pants drapes naturally over the collar, leaving the exaggerated shell-toe and wide laces exposed for a heavy, grounded look that standard canvas shoes simply cannot replicate.

Moving beyond simple homage, it has earned its spot as a standout statement sneaker for everyday wear.

Closing: Playful Originality Embracing a Classic

Maison Mihara Yasuhiro started with the blueprint of classic sneakers, but ultimately created a category of high-end originality through analog craftsmanship and witty design.

If you are tired of plain everyday canvas shoes or want a statement sneaker that anchors wide-fit pants, the Blakey Canvas Low is an irreplaceable choice.

I look forward to seeing how the clay-textured soles age and scuff up over time with every step. I'll continue to share how these break in and integrate into my future outfits.

Thank you for reading this long journey.

Sincerely, Lislab
