[Review] PBJ (Pure Blue Japan) XX-011 3-Years Selvedge Denim: Shaped by Time

Hello, this is  Lislab . While many brands are hailed as the pride of Japanese denim, PBJ(Pure Blue Japan) stands in a league of its own, solely due to its unparalleled fabric texture. Renowned for its signature "slubby" and rugged feel, PBJ is famous for maintaining this unique texture while employing distinctive construction methods that set it apart from standard denim. Today, I’m introducing the PBJ XX-011 , a model that utilizes Left-hand Twill(LHT) to offer both unique fading characteristics and a surprisingly comfortable fit. Let’s dive into the detailed data of how PBJ’s "blue obsession" has evolved after spending over three years with me. My Top 5 'Heritage' Essentials: Archiving a Lifetime of Patina and Craftsmanship

Hello, this is Lislab.

Everyone has those "ride-or-die" items, don't they? When I was younger, I was often captivated by things that were merely expensive, flashy, or part of a passing trend.

But as time passed, I began to see a value far more precious than chasing trends. I started to feel a deeper affection for objects that accumulate memories with me—items that eventually come to resemble me.

Today, I’ve gathered the true "life items" that support my daily routine, carefully selected over ten years or more. While "bought-with-my-own-money" reviews are everywhere, to me, an object is more than just a purchase. It’s a value that only becomes complete as it absorbs the passage of time and the touch of my hands. Here are my Best 5 Essentials.

01. Raw Denim

"A Second Skin That Lives with Me 300 Days a Year"

To me, jeans are not just "clothes to wear." They are an item that has accompanied every moment of my life, almost like a second skin. Whether it was the energetic days of my 20s or the fluttering moments of dating my wife, I was always wearing denim. From our honeymoon to the birth of my child, denim has been by my side. Even at this very moment, as I write this post.

Watching stiff, dark indigo denim gradually soften and fade according to my body and habits is a truly special experience. Following the lines of the fading and honeycombs, memories I had forgotten come back vividly.

"I wore these jeans when I went to that place. It was so wonderful."
"I worked so hard in these; it was tough then, but now it’s a cherished memory."

Being able to reminisce through an object—that is the real reason I love denim. But not all jeans can age with me like this. The world of "true denim" that can archive time and memories is deeper and more niche than you might think. I’m still learning, but I’ll share more about this profound world in a detailed review soon.

02. Leather Diary

"The Charm of Patina and a Trusted Archive"

I have a ritual as soon as I sit at my desk. I open my diary, check my schedule, and organize the day's tasks. I also take time every day to transcribe meaningful quotes or sentences I’ve saved, helping to ground my mind.

In this digital age, many people manage their lives via smartphones or PCs. I use mobile calendars for big appointments, but I always record detailed plans, daily routines, and personal reflections by hand.

I deeply love this analog sensation of writing with my own handwriting and physically turning the pages. I’ll share why I settled on this leather cover—one that allows you to simply swap refills for a lifetime—and why I’ve hoarded several new ones as backups in a future review.

03. Essential Bag

"The Sturdy Companion That Completes the Silhouette"

Bags, which I wanted to throw away during my school days, have now become an indispensable part of my adult life. While "minimalism"—carrying as little as possible in pouches or pockets—is trendy, I pursue a slightly different path.

Instead of weighing down my pockets, I neatly store everything in a bag to keep my hands and my outfit as light as possible. My favorite denim’s fit and silhouette must remain clean, without the bulge of stuffed pockets. From the daily commute to light grocery runs or weekend outings with family, I enjoy the brief moment of choosing the right bag. An outing is only complete when the bag is ready.

From the backpack I use every day to various bags that fulfill their roles in different situations, I will dive deep into my criteria for choosing bags (storage, material, brand, etc.) in a later post.

04. Mechanical Keyboard

"Turning Dry Work Moments into Tactile Joy"

If you ask an office worker, "What item do you use most during work hours?" the keyboard is undoubtedly at the top of the list. Work itself can’t be joyful every single moment. However, the rhythmic 'clack' or 'thock' and the tactile feedback provide a significant sense of comfort during those dry hours.

To me, a keyboard is not just an office accessory. It is the ultimate productivity tool that must combine technical prowess—to reduce finger fatigue during long typing sessions—with a satisfying tactile feel. From standard keyboards to Blue, Brown, and Red switches, and finally to the Electrostatic Capacitive (Topre) switches often called the "pinnacle of typing," I will soon introduce the gear that will make your fingertips happy.

05. Pouch & Stationery

"Completing My Heritage Vibe with Small Details"

I’ve been serious about stationery since my school days. My pencil case was always packed with mechanical pencil leads of every thickness (from 0.3mm to 0.9mm) and countless pens with different writing feels. It was one of my biggest prides.

Even as an adult, stationery is an inseparable part of my daily diary writing and self-improvement study time. However, instead of just carrying a lot, I’ve come to fill my case with the most practical and frequently used items.

From my main pencil case to secondary pouches and dedicated cases for gadgets like external drives or lip balm—these small pouches keep my bag organized and bring order to my daily life. I’ll soon share why I insist on the canvas pouches in the photos and why these specific pens remained at my fingertips among so many others.

These are the 5 "Life Items" that sturdily support my daily life. To some, they might just be common objects. But to me, they are precious companions that have drawn the trajectory of my life and will willingly share my future.

I sincerely hope you also experience the joy of growing old with your belongings, beyond their mere convenience. I plan to explore each of these five items in depth, one by one. Thank you for reading this long post.
